I've tried relaxers but they always look nice when I get out of the salon that day and then the next day, it's back to being crappy. The next week when I try to style my hair out of the shower, my bangs curl up annoyingly. I tried using random stuff like Neutrogena Triple Moisture Healing Shine Serum to get rid of dryness and it works great, but I need straighter hair for it to look better. %26gt;.%26lt; My mom won't let me buy an iron straightener and completely shuts me down on the topic because she's afraid my hair will get worse. =/ IMO, I think it looks cruddy. What should I do?
What's the best way to get straight hair? I'm half black/Filippino and I have thick/dry curly hair...?
I have cousins with hair like that and they just blow dry it to get it straight. It takes awhile, but hey, it works. Just be sure to keep it well moisturized so it wont break off from being too dry.

i have heard putting milk and honey in your hair that makes hair straighter. Milk moisturises it and honey is like a hair serum.
if you do get a straightener do it in to sections.
Drinking lots of water works wonders for hair as it does for miine as it makes it softer and so more manegeble.and frizz free.

I have hair just like yours and the only thing that works for me is to use an iron... yes an iron like you use to iron your clothes just put a towel on your bed and place hair in small sections on the towel and iron like you would a pair of pants or a shirt... honest to goodness it will work i have been doing it for years... than buy some coconut butter the solid kind they use as body lotion and after you iron it rub some into your hands and than into your hair... i know it sounds crazy but you'll believe me it will work

I don't quite understand why your mum lets you relax your hair but wont let you have straightners. I would have thought the latter was the lesser of two evils anyway.
There are straighters you can use whilst blow drying, they are non electrical.
Ive got mixed race hair aswell, theres that problem of not being able to to use "white" products %26amp; "black" products being too heavy. I find keracare (try the light oil), Paul mitchell (Gloss drops - for smooth style, He does a weatherproof spray that protects against rain, humidity etc) %26amp; Phillp Kingsley (elastisizer - like a deep conditioning treatment) products to work well with my hair. I also sometimes use tresemme products, especially their protecting heat spray.
With regards to your hair being relaxed, before you go to bed each night its a good idea to wrap your hair that way when you get up your hairstyle will remain the next day.
You can get the keracare from most ethnic hairshops, its usually behind the counters
Paul mitchell you can get from selected hairdressers %26amp; supercuts
Phillp Kingsley can be brought from selected hairdresser
Try www.HQhair.com

www.phillpkingsley.com
Hope this helps %26amp; Good luck
