Hair style question...?

How do I get my hair to look like this?

I have tried to curl it with a curling iron and it looks like there is too much hairspray on it and it doens't hold. And I also bought magnetic rollers and put them in my hair with setting lotion and that doesn't seem to hold either. My friend did it one time and i can't figure out how she did it! Do I need to be using a certain product or technique? My hair is naturally curly and usually I don't have a problem but now I am. Please help. Any advice would be nice. Thanks!

Use a solid ceramic curling iron. It gets hotter and won't damage the hair. Put in smaller amounts of hair. Spray your hair after your remove the hot iron, then use your hands, not a brush. Styling lotions and sprays really make your hair hard looking after using a curling iron.

that texturized collection from i think.... loreal im not quite sure, but that works real well and makes hair stick in place with out being as hard as a rock

I can't tell you how much I love Garnier Fructis Surf Hair. It comes in a little pot, and it's very cheap. So if it doesn't work, you won't be wasting money. It's like a gel because it has a lot of hold, but it's matte, so it doesn't look greasy or sticky. I would just slather some of that on while your hair's still wet, then style as usual.
