Blowdryer your hair wit your fingers or wit a comb so that the curls or kinda straightened and use wax or glue.... it'll keep your hair spiked... if not you can gel up your hair and wit a wide tooth comb blowdryer your hair it spiked out shapes... either of the 2 work out.. (take it from a hairdresser)

you can use glue if you like... because glue is stronger than gel, clay, wax etc. just make sure it is washable... I did it once because my hair is si think I cant get it to lie down...
